These could affect the environment as well as our health and is something that cannot be proven either way as yet. There was also a bloke on TV last night in Lancashire showing the damage to his home allegedly caused by fracking. There is one thing however that convinces me it is wrong and that is the buffoon and next leader of the conservatives Boris Johnson supports it.

Like you mentioned some have the attitude that it's in the north so they don't really care. They may be in for a shock though, have a look at the prospecting sites here.

https://www.google.com/fusiontables/DataSource?docid=1RpMmgtwzNJyv-cIqb70Qa6zupNopgcr1kZv7LJg#map:id=3
DavidDavidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07061493122424534813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3739575111461729992.post-58613158775362443082012-12-13T15:57:41.128-08:002012-12-13T15:57:41.128-08:00Stunning photos.

The thousands of gallons of water and chemicals pumped into the ground are going to end up back on the surface again at some stage. No doubt the financial benefits will greatly outweigh any concerns relating to pollution, health etc.

On a more positive note I agree with the best sunrises being the accidental ones. I do still try to plan ahead and get the right conditions, but on many occasions still end up with little to show for the effort. It is nice when it works out though.
David
Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07061493122424534813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3739575111461729992.post-53302012075248405202012-12-10T04:21:41.181-08:002012-12-10T04:21:41.181-08:00Reading that I could almost feel the icy air on my...Reading that I could almost feel the icy air on my cheeks. Great pictures and a great write-up, David. Sunrises are hard things to capture. I've found that if you set out on purpose to witness one, then the sky clouds over. The best sunrises are almost accidental, the ones you glimpse unexpectedly. You were lucky.
I got hold of a copy of the Mercury in Barney on Saturday. Fracking sounds like a dodgy business – like playing Russian roulette with geology, irrespective of the consequences. I can see there'll be a lot of opposition if plans go forward.
Cheers, AlenBecause They're Therehttp://becausetheyrethere.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3739575111461729992.post-88854593653228453562012-12-08T19:32:40.959-08:002012-12-08T19:32:40.959-08:00We have similar thoughts there James. I am waiting for a non - firing weekend on the Warcop range to coincide with a spell of fantastic weather. A summit camp on Mickle fell would be great.
