I have just received the latest beta version of the Satmap
Active 12, which comes with hi-res 1:50k OS GB mapping. I think the unit is due for general release
in the spring of 2014.
Receiving the unit has proved timely as I have just had a
complete layoff from the hills for several weeks due to ongoing back problems
and have only started getting back into the swing of things during the last few
days.

Once the Beta Programme ends and the official release date
is announced, it should have had plenty of use by then and I will post a review.
I've just bought a Satmap 10 Plus with all 1:25k and 1:50k maps for a ridiculously good price - it did make me wonder if a new model was to be released soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm not too mithered about having an 'old' model, I'm happy with what I've got - and I'll be even happier when I've learnt to use the thing properly!

The older model with both sets of mapping sounds a good deal John. A friend of mine has had a 10 from first release and has been pretty positive about it. It will be interesting to see how they compare once the software for the 12 is ready for market.
